Akilina (“Eagle-like”) Boklov was born in 2299 in Ufa, Russia, into a broken family. She was abandoned on the doorstep of a state-run orphanage only days after her birth.
Akilina spent her entire life at the orphanage, until the day of the Imperial invasion of Earth. When the Empire secured control of the planet in 2315, all able-bodied youth were drafter into Imperial service. Akilina was placed into the same education program as the "vats", where she underwent psychological and physical conditioning for four years. Afterwards, at the tender age of 20, Akilina received a commission from the Royal Imperial Navy based on her test skills and natural talents for mathematics.
Akilina found that she had a knack for astro-navigation and hyperspace physics, and soon cross-trained as a weapons officer. Eventually, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and was assigned to the HMS Cougar as first officer, under the command of Commodore Santeri Steinns.
Unknown to Akilina and to Steinns, she had been hand-picked by the Alphas for the position. With her mental conditioning and training, Akilina was fanatically dedicated to the Empire, and she would be an ideal agent to monitor Commodore Steinns. The Alphas hoped that she would learn from Steinns' years of experience and groom her for a future command of her own.
Akilina was fanatically loyal to the Emperor and the Empire. She was brilliant, but often short-sighted or even blinded by her fanatic devotion to the government. While she admired Commodore Steinns, she was suspicious of him for many years, until he proved his loyalty to the Empire by not joining the rebelling Prefecture during the Imperial Civil War.
