Eciluge is the fifth planet in the Taygeta Tauri System.
[edit] History
In the terms of the Treaty of Volyn, the survivors of Torimur were disarmed and given three ships: the Jerome Black, the Aydan Black and the Torimur's Hope. They agreed to exile from the Sol Sector, and emigrated to the De Mairan Sector.
They ended up in the Taygeta Tauri System, on the far counter-turn edge of the Orion Arm.
While Eciluge was inhabitable, it was only barely inhabitable. Temperatures rarely rose above freezing. Torimur's Hope was landed on the surface and used as a makeshift city, and its drive systems were cannibalized for the other two ships.
The colonists only remained for two years before beginning the long, slow Second Exodus back into the Sol Sector. Eciluge was abandoned.
[edit] First Exodus Memorial
While Eciluge is no longer inhabited, it is the site of thousands of graves. After the Second Exodus War, many of the survivors of the two Exoduses returned to Eciluge to pay their respects.
An obelisk of carved onyx was placed in the center of the graveyard. Each survivor donated a single drop of blood, which was sealed in a vial in the center of the obelisk. A plaque was placed on the obelisk. It reads "We who lie here are the victims of a crime beyond measure. Justice and revenge were purchased with the blood of the innocent. History must remember. Do not commit the sins of our brothers a second time."
The graves were originally unmarked, but thanks to an anonymous donation, the survivors were able to place a single stone of onyx over each grave. As part of the plan, the monument is not tended. The ice and permafrost of Eciluge are intended to bury it and preserve it for the ages. By the end of the 24th Century, the monument will no longer be visible.
