The title of "Grand Admiral" is used to distinguish a position above an Admiral. It typically means that the officer holding the title is responsible for a great portion of their government's naval forces, if not the naval forces in their entirety.

Known uses:

• Grand Admiral of the Empire - The Onyx Empire used the rank for their military commander-in-chief, who had control over the Royal Imperial Navy and had reports from the rest of the Imperial military branches.
• Fleet Admiral of the Prefecture - While the Federated Districts of the Prefecture renamed the title to "Fleet Admiral", the position retained all of its predecessor's naval responsibilities.
