[edit] Stellar Navigation

R Hydrae is the Hydrae System's only star. R Hydrae is a class G3W yellow dwarf. The Hydrae System is located in the Milky Way galaxy, in the Orion Arm. Hydrae is part of the De Mairan Sector.

[edit] Melkol

Melkol (0.3AU) is a tiny ball of rock in a barely stable orbit around R Hydrae. It was charted in 2321 along with the rest of the system, but no survey missions were ever launched. Orbital scans showed no useful resources.

[edit] Ueda

Ueda (0.7AU) is a sandy, parched, inhospitable world. It was not considered inhabitable, as it had almost no biosphere and a barely sustainable atmosphere. After ratification of the Prefecture's Constitution, an uncomfortable environment was required for legislative sessions. Ueda was chosen for its proximity to Estelis.

[edit] Estelis

Estelis (1.1AU) is an unspoiled paradise, and the spiritual successor to Torimur. By law, only survivors of Torimur and their natural-born descendants may set foot on the surface. Several Haven Class Stations were placed in orbit by the Prefecture during the Imperial Civil War, and they remain in orbit today. Estelis has one moon, Sidnum.

[edit] Shiana

Shiana (3.4AU) is a large gas giant, made up mostly of hydrogen, but has an unusual number of of water deposits floating in the atmosphere.

[edit] Obera

Obera (6.7AU) is a large gas giant.

[edit] Tiante

Tiante (7.5AU) is a medium-sized gas giant.

[edit] History

The Hydrae System was discovered by Commodore Marianne Delray in 2319, while scouting for new worlds for the Onyx Empire to exploit. Instead of reporting the value of an inhabitable planet, Commodore Delray falsified her report to the Royal Imperial Navy, and instead gave the real report to Anthony Hadrian in person. Shortly afterwards, Commodore Delray's command, the HMS Auspicious, was "destroyed" by enemy ships when Hadrian delivered a second false report to Lucius Black. The Auspicious spent the rest of the war in the Hydrae System, installing new Haven Class Stations and ferrying Prefecture-loyal personnel into the System.
