[edit] Overview

Of the core worlds, only the Meroniri retained records of the existence of the Anthronoris, and thus, they had little early cultural development.

Because of their medical technology, Meroniri have developed significant gene-tweaking. They have a zero infant fatality rate, and live healthy lives well into their third century. Because their long life is due to medical intervention and not nature, Meroniri fertility rates are almost identical to Terrans. Most Meroniri have huge families, leading to their massive interstellar sprawl.

Meroniri are very close to Terrans in physiology. Their size, skin pigmentation, and strength are almost identical. On average, they are slightly smarter than the average Terran, but this is believed to be the result of a longer lifespan to become educated in.

[edit] Social Structure

The typical Meroniri lives in relative simplicity. Most leave their homeworld in their mid-forties, and settle on another world in Meroniri space before starting a family. This voluntary movement helps keep the Meroniri gene-pool diverse.

Vast industrial factory worlds churn out mechanized servants to do most of the work, so there is little to do. Meroniri pursue lives of philosophical debate, artistic work, or a number of other fields.

While capitalism is alive and very well within the Meroniri Terinasi, there is simply an overabundance of goods--even on the shoestring budget of an unpopular artist, an Meroniri can afford a home and food.

[edit] Language

English is the standard trade and diplomatic language in the core worlds. It has been since the United Earth Alliance played such a major role in the founding of the Alliance of Planets.

The Meroniri Terinasi has adopted English as one of its official languages, to show its support of the Alliance of Planets. Because of their cultural malaise and boredom, the Meroniri easily assimilated the language.

The original Meroniri language, Lomena, is still spoken throughout their culture in day to day conversation, though most official government business is now conducted in English, with Lomena used in traditional areas of government ceremony.

[edit] Architecture

Meroniri architecture is extravagant and flowing, built in an almost whimsical fashion. Many buildings and complexes are carved out of mountains, and take hundreds of years to complete.

Most Meroniri buildings are powered by self-contained anti-matter reactors, buried beneath the surface. These come from millennia of safe and super-efficient power generation. Even the layman knows how to operate one.

Decor ranges from spartan to unusually excessive and colorful. Meroniri spend hours designing decorations for their homes. They also make sure they have plenty of light, and a good airflow to every room.
