Nathaniel Hinks is a brother in the Stadt Clan, and a son of Willim. Nathaniel's gruff exterior, and domineering personality has become his most recognizable trait. Nathaniel was the first Mesarthrim Commandant to leave the Pelagrim Sector, leading the United Mesarthrim Clans delegation to meet the Alliance of Planets.

[edit] Early Life

Nathaniel was born in Nachtstadt in the far north of Mesar, one of the safe zones. Nathaniel never had to live with the daily air raids conducted by the Anderung.

At the age of six, Nathaniel left Nachtstadt for Brünshelm with his older brother. Brünshelm was a booming city, growing exponentially as the safe zone was pushed farther towards the contested and Anderung-held territories.

In 2275, at the age of seven, Nathaniel was accepted into the MBHE, and began training as an officer to serve in the new United Mesarthrim Clans Kriegsmarine.

In 2285 Nathaniel graduated early from MBHE. He was commissioned as a Kapitän Leutnant on the UMCS Dualität in charge of Forward Blazer One.

[edit] The UMCS Dualität

After receiving command of Forward Blazer One, Hinks received numerous accolades from his superiors for his calm demeanour under fire, and his ability to keep his weapons in the action for an entire fire fight. After serving as the Gun Captain for two years, Hinks was promoted to Korvetten Kapitän in charge of the Dualität's Missile Bed. Hinks held the position with distinction for a year, surpassing his commanders expectations in several heated Anderung engagements by having the proper warheads loaded when needed by watching the battle unfold and predicting the necessary weapons.

At the age of 20, Hinks was promoted to Fregatten Kapitän, the youngest Fregatten Kapitän ever. Hinks was asked to join Konter-Commandant Hilbert Bonn's Strategic Staff on the Dualität. Hinks served on the Strategic Staff for the next two years until the Kampf der Weißen Sternüberfahrt in 2290.

[edit] Kampf der Weißen Sternüberfahrt

It was during the Battle of White Star Crossing that Hinks was giving his chance to command. During the epic battle, the Anderung's Bane got separated from the rest of the Erste Flotte and faced the onslaught of several Anderung war cruisers. The Dualität was beaten to a bloody pulp, losing both all three of its forward blazer cannon turrets, and suffering extensive decompression. The Anderung proceeded to board the Dualität, abducting crew as they went. Taking command of a group of Myt'herra, Hinks and the remainder of the Strategic Staff retook the command deck, and made their way back to the Erste Flotte. As the Anderung war cruisers started to give chase the Dualität rolled showing its ventral missile bed. Hinks ordered all remaining launchers fired at extreme close range. The savage barrage caused extensive damage to both vessels. What was left of the Dualität turned towards the Zweite Flotte and broke off its engagement. Hinks was recognised for his command of the Dualität and received the Victory Pin for the battle.

[edit] Kampfgruppe

After the Battle of White Star Crossing, Hinks was assigned as Chief-of-Strategic Operations of Anderung's Bane, commanding from the war room on the Dualität. It was here that Hinks designed the concept of Kampfgruppe warfare, and officially put forth a request to form the Crimson Tide Battle Group. His plans were accepted with praise and accolades for what the new Kampfgruppe could achieve against the reeling Anderung Navy. Hinks did not take command of the Crimson Tide Battle Group, but instead joined the Kriegsmarine War Staff.

[edit] Kriegsmarine War Staff

In 2291, Hinks officially was given Der Adler, The Eagle, and became Obersturmbann Kapitän. The youngest ever to serve, at the age of twenty-three. As was customary, Hinks was given a command of his own, and he chose a Starknight and named it the UMCS Blutsöldner. It was officially registered as a member of the Crimson Tide Battle Group, and therefore was painted in the Kampfgruppe's colours black and red. The Blutsöldner was an older Starknight, however, Hinks began a massive retrofit, convincing Mesarbauer to equip his ship with various prototypes. Hinks served on the Kriegsmarine War Staff for the next fourteen years, pushing the Kampfgruppe policies, and successfully created five additional Kampfgruppes'. Additionally, during his service he was responsible for the Antvirp Plan which liberated the continent of Arakkia.

In 2305, Hinks watched in helpless horror from the bridge of the Blutsöldner as his former fleet, the Erste Flotte was massacred and sent running after the Kreigsmarine Fiasco. Hinks regrouped with the Crimson Tide Battle Group. Hinks formed a War Staff in exile and marshalled all the remaining Kriegsmarine together under his command. After almost nine months of slow repair and rearmament, the Crimson Tide Battle Group's commander Bradley Graith insisted the Crimson Tide Battle Group return to Mesar and eradicate the Anderung forces that had driven the entirety of the Kriegsmarine from the system. Initially, Hinks wanted to send the Erste Flotte with them, but he knew the importance of Mark Edge's Das Reinigen (the genetic weapon, known as the Cleanser to the Kreigsmarine), and couldn't let all the sacrifice and death have been for naught. So, in 2306, Hinks approved the plan to send the Crimson Tide Battle Group back to Mesar. Hinks and the UMCS Blutsöldner joined their Kampfgruppe in returning to Mesar. In the aftermath, Hinks recognised the Mesarnak Bradley Graith as the hero of the battle. However, internally, Hinks was rewarded for defending Mark Edge's Das Reinigen. In 2308 Hinks was assigned to the High Command.

[edit] High Command

In 2308 Hinks was transferred by the Kriegsmarine War Staff to the High Command. Hinks was the first attache attached to the High Command. His commission corresponded with Uber-General Tischler's victory over the Anderung at Stone Bridge.

Hinks used his position on the High Command to keep the Kriegsmarine well supplied despite the increasing lack of enemies to fight.

Hinks and the Crimson Tide Battle Group were responsible for eradicating the last Anderung Loyalist deep space station in 2318. After this battle, Hinks began preparations to retire from active duty in 2323 at the age of fifty-five.

[edit] The Second Exodus War

On January 13th, 2322, Hinks was informed that the Erste Flotte element Mesar Vorhut had been approached and fired upon by an unknown vessel. Riots had broken out on the UMCS Drache-Mörder, the UMCS Wachsamer Engel, and the UMCS Krieger-König after the vessel had claimed to have come from the fabled home world, Earth.

Hinks ordered an immediate combing of the debris for computer cores and data modules. Two days later, a Explorer Corps ship informed the Mesarthim of the Onyx Empire and the Alliance of Planets. In order to avoid further religious rioting and outbreaks, Hinks took the Crimson Tide Battle Group with the Explorer Corps ship and Andreas Tischler's UMCS Herr des Krieges.
