The first President of the United Earth Alliance was selected by a mutual agreement of the President of the United States and the Premier of the Soviet Union. Martina Acklin, a Swiss national, was chosen as the first President for the purpose of neutrality and fairness.

Afterwards, the President held office for a term of five years, and a limit of a single term. Electronic elections were held on December 31st the year before the term expired, and the winner was sworn into office the following day. The President of the United Earth Alliance was elected by a simple majority. Anyone could run, and anyone could vote. Election campaigns often had hundreds of candidates, though only a few were considered "serious contenders" at any given time.

• Fernando Meliazio - 61st and last elected President, served from 2311 until he was killed in office in 2315.
