Torimur is the second planet in the Cildeng System. It was discovered and claimed in 2028 by Jerome Black, and became the home of one of the strongest independent colonies of Earth. Under the direction of Lucius Black, it was the only colony to arm itself, in defiance of the United Earth Alliance.

[edit] History

Torimur was discovered by Jerome Black, an intrepid explorer braving the unknowns of hyperspace.

The colony got off to a rocky start. The year 2030 was particularly hard. No supply ships made it on schedule, and some colonists starved before they finally succeeded in harvesting a sizeable crop.

Jerome Black's leadership skills began developing at this time. Only his charisma and promises of a bright future kept the colonists from rioting when he began rationing the food supplies.

Three years into the colony's life, prospectors discovered large deposits of radioactive material and heavy metal deposits in some of the uninhabited areas of the planet.

These products were in extremely high demand on Earth and the other colonies. The income of Torimur went from a negative number to a multi-billion dollar industry overnight.

Torimur was heavily involved in the anti-unification movement that led to the First Exodus War, and sent material support to Bethija for the partisan fighters resisting the annexation by the United Earth Alliance. The colony's founder died during this campaign.

Lucius Black, the son and heir of Jerome Black, seized the reins of Torimur in late 2074, and began building up the merchant military. No one understood his reason for doing so, but he was a capable leader and haggler in the heavy metal marketplace, so there were no complaints.

The world was neutron bombed by the United Earth Alliance during the First Exodus War, killing thousands of colonists and mutilating hundreds of thousands with horrific radiation poisoning. Many died before the terms of the Treaty of Volyn forced the Alliance to aid in their evacuation from their deadly homeworld.

Since the bombing, no one has returned to the planet: its Thorium mines are tapped, and the old population centers are still heavily irradiated. Out of respect for the dead, no new colonies have been attempted.

[edit] Geography

Torimur has three continents, on in the northern hemisphere, and two in the southern hemisphere, with the larger of the two covering both the northern and southern regions. Only the largest continent was inhabitted during the Torimur Colonial Authority's existence, and most of the population lived in the city of Ailqot.
