First Fleet - Second Fleet - Third Fleet

The Zweite Flotte (or Second Fleet) was the main Mesarthrim 'Peacekeeping Fleet' in the Anderung War. In the Second Exodus War the Second Fleet served as the United Mesarthrim Clans 'Expeditionary Fleet.' During the Onyx Civil War, the Second Fleet became a 'Guardian Fleet' with elements acting as the Crimson Tide's rear guard, protecting Mesar. Eventually, the Second Fleet was betrayed by one of its own elements, and almost completely annihilated in the early stages of the Mesarthrim Civil War.

[edit] Formation

The Second Fleet was established in 2270 in an effort to expand the Kriegsmarine's tactical options against the Anderung. Kömmodore Hansel Worterburg von Baum, of the newly formed Mesarthrim Provisions Department, drafted the proposal and oversaw the establishment of the Second Fleet. The Second Fleet is a smaller fleet, consisting of only 40 vessels, however, was comprised of only Cruisers and Destroyers.

Mesar Luftfahrt used its new space born facilities and new design to fill out the ranks of the Second Fleet initially. Later, the Second Fleet would be upgraded by Fireline Industries.

[edit] Fate

At the start of the Mesarthrim Civil War, the Second Fleet was the only fleet still in orbit of Mesar and greater Mesarthrim Space. In addition, the fourth element, the Users, was secretly serving the Auellal League.

In the opening stages of the Civil War, the Auellal League faked a pirate raid, and when the the Thieves and the Users moved out to engage, the Users turned their weapons on the the Thieves. The Thieves were completely destroyed with all hands - there was no warning to evacuate the ships.

Only hours after the destruction of the Thieves, the Finest entered Mesar space, and were ambushed by the Users. Those who escaped were taken as prisoners of war. The men and women of the Finest would later become the founding element of the United Centusi States Second Fleet after they were released in a prisoner exchange.

The Preacher's were destroyed just prior to the betrayal of the First Fleet. They were in continued engagement over the course of several months, with the Users finally coming out on top.
