William Parrish, commander of the Laojiu Guard, is the polar opposite of his roughneck command. A fine gentleman, always well-groomed and expensively dressed. He commands the garrison with an iron fist, breaking in every new tough personally. Every troublemaker gets one chance to fight him hand-to-hand. After a week or two in traction, new recruits are as meek as kittens around Brigadier Parrish.
